Job Title: Community-Based Counseling Internship
About us: Anderson Counseling Services is seeking dedicated and passionate interns to join our community-based counseling team. This internship provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in providing mental health support within various community settings. Interns will work under the supervision of licensed counselors, fostering both personal and professional growth through active participation in client care and community outreach programs.
Responsibilities
Provide one-on-one counseling support to clients under supervision, including but not limited to active listening, empathetic communication, and coping strategies.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records in accordance with confidentiality policies and ethical guidelines.
Engage in regular supervision meetings and training sessions to enhance clinical skills and knowledge.
Collaborate with other team members to develop and implement community programs aimed at promoting mental well-being.
Qualifications
Currently enrolled in a graduate program in psychology, counseling, social work, or a related field.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and engage respectfully with diverse populations.
Basic understanding of therapeutic techniques and principles.
Must possess a genuine interest in mental health and supporting community well-being.
Previous experience in a counseling or community service setting is a plus, but not required.

Job Title: Marketing Intern
About Us: Anderson Counseling Services is dedicated to providing compassionate and effective mental health support. We believe in the importance of mental wellness and the role it plays in a healthy society. If you are looking for a marketing internship to satisfy course requirements and or gain real world experience, this voluntary internship provides a practical outlet to learn and grow.
Responsibilities:
Assist in the development and implementation of marketing campaigns across various channels, including social media, email, and website content.
Conduct market research to identify trends and insights relevant to our target audience.
Create and curate engaging content for social media platforms and the company blog.
Support the team in organizing marketing events and outreach efforts.
Monitor and analyze campaign performance, providing feedback and suggestions for improvement.
Collaborate with team members on creative projects, ensuring brand consistency and messaging integrity.
Help maintain the marketing calendar and track project deadlines.
Qualifications:
Currently pursuing a Masters degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in social media platforms and basic graphic design software (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) is a plus.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.

If you don’t have a bachelor’s degree, you cannot qualify for QMHP-T through the Board. You would need to continue your education.

Utilize evidence-based practices in real-world settings

What We’re Looking For
Must Have:
Master’s degree in Counseling or Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CACREP or equivalent)
Registered Resident in Counseling with the Virginia Board
A genuine passion for helping others and growing as a clinician
Strong communication and emotional intelligence skills
A desire to work in a collaborative, team-driven environment
Nice to Have (but not required):
Experience with children, teens, or families
Training in CBT, DBT, trauma-informed care, or motivational interviewing
Bilingual (especially Spanish or ASL)

The Licensed Counselor will provide individual, group, and family therapy services to clients across the lifespan at a community-based mental health center. This role involves conducting comprehensive clinical assessments, developing treatment plans, delivering evidence-based therapeutic interventions, and collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to support recovery and wellness.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct biopsychosocial assessments and diagnostic evaluations in accordance with DSM-5 and agency guidelines.
Develop individualized treatment plans with measurable goals based on client needs and strengths.
Provide outpatient counseling services (individual, group, and family) using evidence-based practices.
Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation in compliance with Medicaid, commercial insurance, state, and agency standards.
Coordinate care with psychiatrists, case managers, primary care providers, schools, and other community partners.
Respond to mental health crises as needed and provide risk assessments and safety planning.
Participate in weekly supervision, team meetings, and professional development activities.
Maintain licensure and stay updated on best practices and regulatory changes.
Qualifications:
Required:
Active licensure in the state of Virginia as an LPC, LCSW, or LMFT.
Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, or a related field from an accredited program.
Experience providing mental health services to diverse populations, including children, adolescents, and/or adults.
Strong clinical documentation and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Knowledge of HIPAA, Medicaid regulations, and state mental health requirements.
Preferred:
Bilingual (English/Spanish or other languages).
Experience with electronic health records (EHR), preferably Credible or similar systems.
Certification or training in evidence-based practices (e.g., CBT, DBT, Trauma-Informed Care, Motivational Interviewing).
Work Environment:
Office-based and/or telehealth environment, with potential for community-based sessions (e.g., schools, homes).
May involve occasional evening hours depending on client needs.
