Anderson Counseling Services is a mental health agency that was founded in 2004 by Dr. Mike Anderson. Our practice is headquartered at 434 Graves Mill Rd. in Lynchburg, Virginia and serves the community through in-person and telehealth sessions. In addition to the Lynchburg area, Anderson Counseling Services offers assistance to communities of Amherst, Altavista, Appomattox, Forest, and Rustburg.

President & Clinical Director
Mike Anderson, Ed.D., LPC, ACS
Dr. Anderson is the president of Anderson Counseling Services, a clinical supervisor, a licensed professional counselor, and a member of the Virginia Counselors Association. Dr. Anderson specializes in interpersonal trauma and crisis mental health services. Dr Anderson has over 26 years of clinical and administrative experience. He is committed to learning ways to better serve his clients and colleagues. He completed his studies in doctoral counseling at the University of Lynchburg. He has been happily married, and the couple has two adult children. Dr. Mike credits his achievements to his faith in Christ and a calling to the helping profession.

Tyler Yeatts, M.A., LPC
Assistant Director of Clinical Services & Outpatient Therapist
Tyler Yeatts seeks to help others navigate areas in life struggles that deal with anxiety, depression, trauma and behavioral issues. He implement theoretical orientations such as cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and dialectical behavioral therapy; however, person-centered therapy is crucial as he takes pride in developing a healthy therapeutic alliance and relationship.
Javaughn Colbert, QMHP-A
Assistant Director of Community Mental Health & MHSB Therapist
Javaughn Colbert is the assistant administrative director of community mental health and the primary contact person for the Rapid response program at Anderson counseling Services in Lynchburg. In this capacity, he ensures clients are processed for service intakes in a timely manner. Colbert’s roles include, supporting staff and interns in their growth and supporting clients in the mental health skill building program to ensure their continued success in the community.
Emily Weinmann, M.A., LPC-R
Outpatient Team Leader & Outpatient Therapist
Emily is a Licensed Resident Counselor dedicated to supporting healing, growth, and mental wellness. She specializes in trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, and other mental health challenges. With over five years of experience, Emily uses an integrative approach grounded in Psychodynamic Therapy, ACT, and CBT.
Jim Hutchison, Ed.D., LPC, LMFT
Clinical Training Consultant & Outpatient Therapist
With over 35 years of experience Dr. Hutchinson has developed a vast skill set which has guided him in his work with providing quality mental health care. He is a Licensed professional counselor and an LMFT. Dr. Hutchison works from a variety of counseling theories including psychodynamic theory, various cognitive and behavioral theories and has a working knowledge of neuropsychology. As a professor of the Liberty of University in Behavioral Sciences, Dr. Hutchison has aided the Anderson staff in clinical training and providing guidance to help clinicians navigate various situations.

Maame is a Licensed Resident in Counseling, from the Virginia Board of Counseling that specializes in evidenced-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Person-Centered Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, and mindfulness techniques. Maame’s therapeutic style emphasizes empathy, collaboration, and creating a safe, affirming space for clients to explore their thoughts, emotions, and life experiences.
Rachel is a licensed resident counselor who integrates evidence-based approaches including CBT, ACT, DBT, and person-centered therapy to support clients through a range of emotional and life challenges. She values a collaborative, compassionate therapeutic relationship where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered. Rachel is committed to helping individuals build insight while also developing practical tools to manage stress, navigate change, and create meaningful, lasting growth.

Tiffany Shaver, M.A., LPC-R
Tiffany Shaver is a Resident in Counseling who specializes in trauma, emotional dysregulation, depression, anxiety, and relationship issues, offering a warm, nonjudgmental space for clients of all ages. Tiffany takes a systemic, trauma-informed approach, drawing from DBT, CBT, mindfulness, play therapy, and family systems to support healing and growth. She also offers faith-integrated counseling for clients who request it, blending clinical expertise with spiritual sensitivity.

Samantha is a Licensed Resident in Counseling, from the Virginia Board of Counseling that specializes in evidenced-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, with Solution's Focused, Psychodynamic, and mindfulness techniques. As Patient Relations Specialist Rebekah combines her love of community outreach and case work to ensure the quality of patient care. She has transitioned into her current position continuing her desire to work with others while managing administrative tasks within the organization.
